What is Adventure Rank?
First of all, adventure rank is very beneficial for any player, as this not only lets you ascend your characters and weapons but also enhances your rewards from quests, domains, and bosses, generously. These factors impact a lot your overall gameplay and how you can level up your characters. For example, let’s say you want to level up Lisa to 90; in this case, you must be at least adventure rank 50.
World Level: The world level affects the level of enemies all around the map. Higher level means more mora and better items dropped. You can only increase your world level after meeting the required adventure rank.
Character Ascension: You can increase any character’s level using Hero’s Wit, Adventurer’s Experience, or Wanderer’s Advice, often being obtained from quests of all sorts, chests, and ley line outcrops. Be wary that once you reach level 20 with a character, you will need to ascend them to be able to continue leveling them up.
Each character’s ascension will require a certain adventure rank, but also materials. Increasing a character’s level will also enhance their base stats, such as HP and Base ATK.
Weapon Ascension: The weapon leveling system works the same as the character ascension; you cannot raise its level any further unless you have the required adventure rank and materials.
Domains: Some domains are essential for leveling character talents or weapons, but also for artefacts, which are very important for character building. Some domains require a certain adventure rank to be accessible.
How to Increase Adventure Rank
There are lots of ways to increase your adventure rank, most of which you are only able to do once. At the same time, some of the methods give a lot more EXP, and some require resin spending.
The optimal way of increasing your adventure rank is by using the methods that give out the most EXP, which most of them are one-time only.

Are Commission Quests the Fastest Way to Level Adventure Rank in Genshin?
Commission quests are unlocked after reaching Adventure Rank 12, and they are 4 daily quests given by Katheryne, which also reward you with primogems, so don’t underestimate their importance.
Each quest gives 250 adventure EXP. After completing all quests, you will also receive an additional 500 EXP by visiting Katheryne at her base in Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, or Natlan.
How Archon Quests Help You Gain Adventure Rank Quickly
Archon quests are an important component of the game, which also reward you with lots of goodies. This is the main story of the protagonist, and it follows the twins’ journey all around Teyvat.
This method gives the most adventure EXP, but the downside is that you can only do them once, and that they are locked by adventure rank level. It is recommended that you do them as soon as they are available because they also give meaning to the game and spice it up.
Can You Level Adventure Rank Just by Doing World Quests?
Some world quests are also a necessity if you want to advance further in the main story, and also give out a lot of adventure EXP alongside other rewards. One benefit of the world quests is that they’re not limited by your current adventure rank.
You can start those quests simply by talking to NPCs with an exclamation mark above their heads, but also by simply walking towards some of them.
Do Story Quests Give Good Adventure Rank EXP in 2025?
Story quests resemble world quests in many ways, but the difference is that story quests usually involve playable characters like Jean, Venti, Eula, and so on.
Some of them require you to reach a certain adventure rank level before being able to start them, and some of them require a special kind of key, which you can get by simply completing 8 daily commissions.
These quests are really easy to access and give out a lot of adventure EXP, so don’t skip on them.
How Much AR EXP Do You Get from Oculi and Statues of The Seven?
Oculi are scattered all around the map, and some of them are impossible to miss. After collecting a decent amount of them, you should head straight to a seven statue and give them out. The rewards for giving them are worth the effort.
Some of the rewards include primogems, elemental sigils, adventure EXP, and most importantly, it increases your stamina, which is crucial for your combat and exploring.
Is Farming World Bosses Worth It for AR EXP and Character Mats?
World bosses are a very important component of the game, for the rewards they give after being defeated. They are crucial for the character level-up materials they give, but also give a lot of other stuff like adventure EXP, artefacts, and friendship EXP.
Please note that these bosses require resin spending, but as I stated before, they are Important. After defeating a world boss, you will need to revitalize the ley line by spending 40 resin, and the rewards are yours!
Do Domains Give Enough AR EXP to Be Worth Your Resin?
Domains are a good source of artefacts, talent ascension materials, weapon ascension materials, and friendship EXP. They are more important for players with a higher level, so you don’t need to rush with those, especially the artefact domains. The artefact domains only give higher rarity artefacts at AR 45 and above.
This method costs resin, and it’s not the best way out there of farming adventure EXP.
While we’re at domains, you should know that some domains are one-time only and do not cost any resin; these domains give out more adventure EXP, and primogems, so you should do those as fast as possible.
Are Ley Lines a Good Use of Resin for Adventure Rank EXP?
Ley line outcrops appear randomly across all regions — blue ones for EXP, yellow ones for Mora. I personally only do the blue ley line outcrops for hero’s wit, which is vital for leveling characters, but if you need mora, the yellow ones are perfect for that.
Leaving that aside, they give 100 adventure EXP and cost 20 resin.
Do Treasure Chests Actually Help with AR Farming in Genshin?
Probably the best and most fun thing to do in the game, in my opinion, chests are everywhere scattered around the map, some of them being locked behind a simple task.
It’s good to open them as soon as you set eyes on them. Sometimes, I even go out of my way in a quest if I see one of them. But sadly, if you’re looking to gain adventure EXP from chests, I’d say it’s not the most reliable source for that.
Chests give you around 10 to 30 adventure EXP, so if you used all other methods, you can try this one.
Conclusion
There are lots of ways to level your adventure rank fast, although a higher adventure rank will give you better rewards, you shouldn’t rush too much on this. If your characters aren’t ready for tougher enemies, a higher adventure rank will make fighting very difficult for you.
For example, my characters are around level 80-90, and I keep my adventure rank at 50, to be able to battle more easily and to raise them even further.
